The Congregation of the Sisters of the Catechist of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (SCSC), Suore Catechiste del Sacro Cuore<\/i>, was founded on November 21, 1905, by Saint Giulia Salzano in Casoria-Naples, Italy. The mission of Saint Giulia Salzano continues to this day through the members of the congregation, who are specially prepared to proclaim the Gospel and spread devotion to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus worldwide. As a manifestation of pastoral works, the SCSC Congregation is a religious family following papal rules, dedicated to imitating the example of Christ. The SCSC Congregation has grown and is currently serving in eight (8) countries: Italy, Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Canada, the Philippines, India, and Indonesia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CHARISM<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Teaching the teachings of Christ through catechetical work for the greater glory of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

VISION<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

That all God's people may know, love, and serve Him in this life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MISSION<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ecclesial mission of the SCSC Sisters' Congregation is: The apostolate of faith in the love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Faith working through love (Galatians 5:6). This mission is carried out through the following apostolic activities:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Teaching the teachings of Christ in schools owned by the SCSC Congregation, in parishes, youth centers, various Catholic organizations, and public schools.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Collaborating in pastoral ministry work.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Work in the field of education.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Works of charity<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

    THE PURPOSE AND SPIRIT OF THE CONGREGATION.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The purpose and spirit of the SCSC Congregation are as follows: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. Personal sanctification, through total dedication to Christ, by professing the Evangelical counsels and in obedience to the Constitution.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. Collaborating in the Church's mission of salvation in the world by teaching the teachings of Christ, for the greater glory of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, in the spirit of Saint Giulia Salzano (a herald of the new evangelization). Within the Roman Catholic Church, this Congregation is founded on the faith of the Roman Catholic Church, following the example of its founder, Saint Giulia Salzano. The fundamental elements of the Congregation are the practice of fraternal life and poverty. Following the life and teachings of Christ, as well as the special emphasis given by its founder, Saint Giulia Salzano, the Congregation participates in the Church\u2019s mission in the following areas:<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. Proclaiming the Good News to all people (children, teenagers, young adults, and adults), especially to those who have not yet known God, so that they may come to know, love, and serve God in their fellow human beings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    4. The Apostolate of Faith in love for the Sacred Heart of Jesus, believing that faith works through love.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    5. Education and service to the poor and marginalized in the same manner, following the example of Saint Giulia Salzano.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      SPIRITUALITY OF SCSC.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      The spirituality of SCSC, as inspired by its founder, Saint Giulia Salzano, is PRAYER and ACTION\u2014both Contemplative and Active. The spirituality of SCSC is shaped according to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the most perfect school of holiness, by drawing upon the fundamental virtues taught by Jesus, which are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      1. Humility.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      2. Gentleness.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      3. Sacrifice.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      4. Self-Denial.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      5. Apostolic Zeal.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        FORMATION<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        The formation stages of becoming an SCSC sister are as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Aspirancy Period.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

        The aspirancy period lasts approximately one year, during which candidates live within the SCSC community in Indonesia to get to know one another. During this time, candidates learn about and observe the way of life of the SCSC sisters and deepen their personal commitment under the guidance of a formator.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Postulancy Period.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

        The postulancy period lasts approximately one (1) year. During this time, postulants, under the guidance of a formator, learn about the vision and mission, purpose and spirit, and charism of the SCSC Congregation. They also study the founder of the SCSC Congregation and engage in other relevant studies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Novitiate Period.<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        The novitiate period lasts approximately two (2) years and is the most crucial stage in religious formation. It prepares candidates for the obligations of consecrated life and helps them make a conscious and responsible choice in accordance with the Evangelical counsels. During this time, novices deepen their understanding of their personal vocation, receive initiation into religious life, and discern their suitability and capability for living a consecrated life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Under the guidance of the formator, they should actively engage in:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        1. The study of the Congregation's Constitution.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        2. Religious Studies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        3. Learning about the life of piety.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        4. Learning to truly live out the vows and specific virtues.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        5. Striving to embody all aspects of the formation program. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

          Juniorate Period and Perpetual Vows<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

          The profession of temporary vows, which are renewed annually for a period of 6-9 years, followed by lifelong dedication through perpetual vows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
